Rekindling passion for translation

I am immensely grateful that somehow I am now dabbling in this translation industry.

I have always loved writing, languages & translation...but ironically after my school days were over, I took up Electrical Engineering and later delved into Business Studies. My passion for languages never wavered and I am happy for myself and my family that I am presently more active in translation now than I used to be before. Nothing beats the exhilaration or the adrenaline rush that one feels when we immerse ourselves in something that we are passionate about.

I started doing translation way back when I was attached with the Department of Statistics Malaysia in 1994, and later with Playworks Consultancy. My first ever client was a doctor who requested translation to be done for a hospital article in 2004. I was then caught up with work and translation took a back seat. Later, I applied and was selected for the General Translation Intensive Course and Editing Workshop sponsored by Human Resource Development Fund and conducted by the Malaysian Institute of Translation & Books.

I was overjoyed when I passed the exam and have been diligently practising all that I learnt and absorbed from the classes. At present, I am a freelance translator/editor and a part-time translator with the Malaysian Institute of Translations & Books. My love for languages has propelled me to study Turkish & Arabic recently.
